The homes you find in Maaldrift
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) counts just over sixty homes in the Maaldrift neighbourhood, mostly detached, then semi-detached, with hardly any flats. The largest group dates from 1925 to 1950; on the road Maaldrift itself, construction years run from the mid-nineteenth century to after 2000.
A mix like that calls for a careful look. On a 1930s house we follow the original layout: fixed and opening sections, any transom light (bovenlicht), the width of the frame members. On homes from the 1970s onwards, it is more often about daylight and a wider opening to the garden.
At Maaldrift 9 stands a longhouse farm with barn, designated a municipal monument in 2014. If you live in a building like that, or your home lies in one of Wassenaar’s protected conservation areas, rules apply to profiles, glazing bars and colour. We check what the municipality requires for your address.
